A Healthy Heart

Hearts

We see everywhere how to keep our heart healthy.
  • Exercise on a regular basis.
  • Eat healthy food.
  • Get enough fresh air.
  • Live a healthy lifestyle.
All of these are good things to do for our physical heart. But what about our spiritual heart? Are we doing everything that we can to keep our spiritual heart healthy?
Last night I was reading a devotional that I read, and it was about keeping our spiritual heart healthy. It really hit me. So many people are obsessed with keeping our physical bodies healthy, and staying fit, that they forget about our spiritual body. Our spiritual body is far more important. Just as we need to exercise and eat healthy food on a daily basis, we need to do things on a daily basis for our spiritual body. Praying and reading our Bible daily is necessary for a healthy spiritual heart. If you don't already do it on a daily basis, it is hard to get into a habit of doing it, just like exercising. Once you keep doing it, it will become apart of your day. And that is so important. We need to allow time in our day to just spend time with God. When we do that our spiritual heart will become healthy, and it will be easier for us to fight against any unhealthy lifestyle habits that may come after us.

  1. Amen, Ashley! I think of all the things I do on a daily basis, like eat food and drink water, shower and brush my hair, all of the things that I *need* to do, as in, my day will not happen if these things don't happen. Strangely enough, reading my Bible and spending time with God tends to fall onto the end of the list...I fit it in whenever it's convenient for me.

But feeding our souls spiritually is as vital as drinking water and breathing oxygen. We can't go on without it.

    1. Exactly! So many people think that they can put off reading their Bible and praying, but if we just casually put off eating and drinking we would slowly die.
