Handling Our Feelings

As humans we always seem to make our decision based on feelings. If we don't feel like talking to someone we won't. If we don't feel like doing something we don't do it. Feelings are not a bad thing, its good to have feelings. Its how we react to the feelings whether its good or bad. Its good that we have feelings, but we can't base our doings with how we "feel." We need to base them on the Bible. If someone was mad at someone and felt like killing a person would that be okay? No it wouldn't, because the Bible says that you shouldn't kill.

Some people have had things happen in their past that makes them react negatively to all the bad feelings that they have. It is good to always have a way to let those feelings out. Whether its journaling, working out, blogging, etc., you need to be able to let out your negative feelings. If we don't have a way to let out our feelings, all of those negative feelings will begin to pile up until you can't hold it in any longer and you end up lashing out at someone that you don't want to. Also another way I've found helpful is talking to people about what your feeling. Sometimes just saying it out loud helps. 1. I think a lot of the time we like to make victims of ourselves and so blaming our actions on our feelings is an easy excuse. After all, can we really help the way we feel about something? I don't think we can always help our feelings, but I do think that our feelings can be trained. For instance, if I'm struggling to love someone, I can train myself to not only act lovingly toward them but to also feel lovingly about them...I can pray for them, say kind words to them, and encourage them. Sometimes we have to do the right thing in order for the right feelings to follow. We have to lead our emotions and trust God. :)

Thank you for another thought-provoking post! I love the way your blog posts refocus my life. God bless!

    1. I completely agree Danielle! We can't help our feelings, but we can control so we don't do things/say things that we may regret in life later.
