You shall not murder.
Now hopefully none of you have murdering as a problem. Hating is probably something that we all have struggled or is struggling with. In 1 John 3:15 hating someone is the same as murdering. "Anyone who hates another brother or sister is really a murderer at heart. And you know that murderers don't have eternal life within them." Here in this verse it is saying that if you hate someone, its like you have committed murder in your heart. That's kind of scary if you think about it. Now I will be the first to admit that I have hated some people in the past that have hurt me, or done something that really upset me. Something I do struggle with is forgiving people that have hurt me. I hold grudges (you will read more about this in an upcoming post). If you have hatred in your heart towards someone, you really need to forgive them. As humans our human nature is not to forgive and let things go. It is very difficult. That is why we need God's help to forgive those that have hurt us in the past.
This commandment is so often overlooked. It's amazing how Jesus never fails to tear down our pride. None of us our guiltless, not one. All have fallen short. Thank you for sharing!
